Every January, people cut out everything they enjoy. By February, they are back where they started, and they feel worse about it. The problem is not willpower. The problem is the plan.
Build your plate, don’t ban foods
- Protein first. A palm-sized portion or two at each meal keeps you full and supports your training.
- Half the plate colour. Vegetables and fruit add volume and nutrients for very few calories.
- Smart carbs around training. Rice, potatoes, oats and bread fuel your workouts.
- Room for treats. Planned, not forbidden. That is what makes it last.
Use the 80/20 rule
If most of what you eat supports your goals, there is room for the rest: dinner out, birthday cake, a weekend treat. Consistency matters more than perfection.
Make busy weeks easy
Cook protein in batches, keep quick options like eggs, Greek yogurt and pre-cut vegetables on hand, and have two or three go-to meals for hectic nights.
